9 Tips for Packing Fragile Items

Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind for your next move:

1. Use Small Boxes. When packing valuable, fragile items like glassware and porcelain, separate them into several smaller boxes. This will ensure that they don’t break under the pressure of heavier objects.
2. Wrap Each Item Individually. Anything from Christmas bulbs to fine china should be wrapped separately according to size and weight. All loose pieces and attachments should be removed and wrapped in bubble wrap or other insulating material.
3. Tape the Bottom of the Box for Extra Strength. To ensure no items fall through the bottom of the box, reinforce its surface with a layer of tape.
4. Stuff Hollow Items. Hollow items like vases, bowls, and jars should be stuffed with packing paper to prevent damage.

9. Put Soft Material at the Bottom of the Box. Soft materials, like a towel, packing paper, or Styrofoam peanuts, should be layered on the bottom of all boxes containing fragile material. This will help fortify the box and provide padding for the items.
